The Oscars 2011 Outfit Review

It's here, it happened! Sadly, I didn't get to watch the best ceremony ever, as I was far too tired to stay up till 5am in the morning. But catching up on the outfits, I can tell it was a star-studded, amazing night.
Here's my picks :)

The winners:I loved Reese Witherspoon's simple 60's get-up.Not the most classic dress, but I do think Scarlett Johansson looks hot!The matte dress makes a comeback, here worn by Jennifer Lawrence. It's easy to impress me. Really, just wear any sort of cream colour. Halle Berry knew what she was doing, obviously.
Mila Kunis looks so stunning and erethral in this dress.Hailee Steinfield made her first ever strut down the Red Carpet, but she looked like a princess doing it.
Not many people could handle such a short hemline for the Oscars (even if it was only the Vanity Fair after-party). Nonetheless, I think Taylor Swift looked divine.
This is the epitome of class. I love it, Kate Beckinsale!
Magpies had a field day with this amazing creation. For me, the best of Anne Hathaway's numerous costume changes.

THE BEST DRESS OF THE NIGHT:

Cate Blanchett proves that as far as originalty, grace and beauty is concerned, she still comes up trumps. YES, Cate!

The Losers:
Sharon Stone! That dress?! That make-up?! You disgrace me!
Melissa Leo may have walked away an Oscar in hand, but she won't be getting a nod from me for this downright awkward choice.
Since when has Jennifer Hudson been this skinny? I don't like it one bit. And the dress is a no-no also...
Marisa Tomei looks frumpy and drowned in fabric thanks to this uncouth garment.
I'm not sure who exactly Cody Horn is, but she's not gaining any recognition in my style books!
It's ok Cameron Diaz, a lot of people don't like to admit they're blatantly over the hill! Yes, that was mean, but so is this shiny, leopard print, paaaainfully short dress.

Who shone at the Oscars for you?

My New Brogues

I've been stuck wearing my River Island Male Section boots the whole winter, and while I do love them, I feel like it's time to switch to something a little bit more light. So when I saw that brogues were now the new 'in' thing, I instantly snapped some up.

I found these on the New Look website, but I wasn't sure. Were they gonna look 'legit'? Feeling somewhat confident and wanting to spend some of my hard-earned cash, I took the plunge. And heeeere they are!
Aren't they beautiful?
These will take me through spring nicely. They're a bit small, but I'm sure I'll wear them in. Plus, the lining is floral and adorable! SO CUSHE!
The New Look website ordering and delivery was a breeze as well.

What shoes willbe taking you through spring?

What Up? (7.0)

  • Work is much more enjoyable now, which is a good thing. The 7am Sunday starts aren't ideal, but I'd do it all for Ron McDon.
Worst children's mascot, like, ever?
  • I re-did my blog design - dunno if you've noticed! I actually love it, so I'd love to know what you guys think. My mum only had one question : "Why poo?"
  • It's half term, which means lie-ins, the chance to watch more movies, but also having to do a LOT of schoolwork. It's a gift and a curse.
  • I'm just getting over one of my dreadful colds. I hate to sound like a self-pitying moaner, but my colds are probably the worst colds ever. Next time you have a sniffle, DON'T GO TELLING ME YOU HAVE A COLD.
  • Who's this Jessie J? I'm not a fan. At all.

Well, I best be off. Hope you've all had a good week.

The Baftas 2011 Outfit Review

It was a star-studded red carpet, and some people looked hot AS! Here's my best, and worst picks of the ceremony that's one notch beneath my favourite movie event of the year!

The BEST:
This dress cute, and the colour completely suits Jessica Alba.Wow, Gemma Arterton looks hot. I love the simplicity of this dress.
I never thought redheads could work nudes this well. But Amy Adams, you proved me wrong. That's it! Cheryl can go home, Kimberley Walsh will always be the hottest Girl Aloud.
I really can't make my mind up about this dress, but considering Rosamund Pike looks marvellous wearing it, it gets into my prestigious 'Best' category.
Where's Rachel Stevens been hiding? This dress, however, makes the perfect comeback.
Oh, I just love Miranda Richardson. This is an age-perfect, classy dress. She looks like a queen!

The WORST:
Sorry Sarah Harding, but this is nothing but tacky. Are they roses printed on that uber-pink monstrosity? No, Thandie Newton, just no.I like Emma Watson's style normally, but this don't float my boat.Oh no. This is the second time Julianne Moore's failed in my eyes, The velvet...I might just stomach. But the pasty face+gothic eyes+red lip scenario? I just can't forgive.
Too white, too shiny, too mutton, too lamb. That's Annette Benning told.

Romantic Movies Galore!

Yes, I know Valentine's was on Monday, but I'm taking the 'muso' high road, and taking the "only a Hallmark holiday anyway/ we should celebrate the people we love everyday/I'm single and grumpy" excuse.
But, I do love my Romantic movies. So without furhter ado: some of my most favourite romantic movies/moments ever.

The Notebook
"So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day."

"If you're a bird, I'm a bird."

Pocahontas
"If you kill him, you'll have to kill me too."

"I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you.
"

New York, New York
"Will you marry me? Will you marry me? I love you. Will you marry me? I don't want anybody else to be with you. I don't want anybody else. I want to be with you, do you understand? I don't want anybody else to be with you except me. I love you. I love you. Look at me. I love you."

Moonstruck
"Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn't know this either, but love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and *die*. The storybooks are *bullshit*. Now I want you to come upstairs with me and *get* in my bed!"

The Way We Were
"When you love someone, from Roosevelt to me, you go deaf, dumb and blind."

"You think you're easy? Compared to what, the Hundred Years' War?
"

Bridges of Madison County
"I was acting like another woman, yet I was more myself than ever before."

"I don't want to need you, 'cause I can't have you."

Forrest Gump
"I'm not a smart man... but I know what love is."

"
You're my girl!"

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
"Some things last."

"
-You're so young.
-Only on the outside.
"

Manhattan
"You're... You're God's answer to Job. You would have ended all argument between them. He'd have said "I do a lot of terrible things. But I can also make one of these." And Job would have said, "OK, you win."

I'm doing an OOTD...kind of.

To be perfectly honest, I'm perfectly happy to admit my fashion sense isn't by any measure 'revolutionary' and original. But I like what I wear. I like it so much in fact, that I'm willing to share some of my extra special (LOL) outfits with you all. These were all on auto-timer. So, I therefore must apologise for:
  • The messy state of my room.
  • My awkward poses.
  • The bad quality of my photos. Fingers crossed they'll get better ;)
Today I wore:
Pink Shortsleeved Dress with Bird Pattern - H&M
Tights - Marks and Spencer
Long Black Cardigan (not in these photos) - Marks and Spencer
Flat Leather style boots (again, not shown) - New Look

This dress is unbelievably cute. It only cost £14.99, and I think you could get away wearing it even in the winter, with a cardigan on top. Style tips from me, you lucky, lucky thing.

Hope you guys liked this :)
